Came here to say the same thing! First discovered Hudson via a YouTube video about Medium. Made it sound easy so I gave it a go and it worked really well for a while. Then Medium decided to change and now my earnings have tanked and I've pretty much just left it. Currently on substack. Waiting to see where to next π
I have to admit AI has really become the normal and changed writing online. Unfortunately, most people don't get it. They think the AI will write it for you, but the AI has never written very readable pieces. It just puts bits of information together. It lacks emotion and that human touch.
If you want to use AI, fine, but first write what you're going to say. Say it well. Don't worry about spelling mistakes; don't worry about grammar, because that is something AI is excellent at putting right for you.
Iβve start writing on medium and from your YouTube channel Iβve come here . Do tell me tips to get views . Today was my first day and I posted a article on my page on medium
The shift toward community-driven writing and SEO-backed strategies makes total sense, especially as AI-generated content floods the space. I appreciate your take on writing as an investment rather than a direct paycheckβbuilding an engaged audience is the real long-term play. Looking forward to seeing how your fiction writing journey unfolds!
Thank you, Hudson, for your analysis! I also tried to embrace AI in my writing. I didnβt find it effective. Or may be I just didnβt understand how to do it
Interesting piece, Hudson. I've been a self-supporting, full-time writer and author since the late 90s. I think adaptability is key to being successful as a writer working online. I've written about subjects ranging from drink recipes to true crime, plus fiction (though the latter has always been the least lucrative). Not only is adaptability essential (embracing technology, tackling various subject matter, working well with editors) but so is professionalism and being able to meet (or better yet, beat) deadlines.
AI cheapens writing. I'm not a fan of it at all. It's going to be the downfall of the written word in the near future once the algorithms get better.
Itβs true. And very sad
Love your work Hudson. Your YT got me writing on medium. Now looking at where to next π₯΄

I'm heading in that direction. I'm using the platforms as tools to help me sell my books.

Hey Hudson.
"There are a million different ways to make money as a writer."
I read THAT, and my heartbeat slowed, my pulse shuddered threateningly slow, and my blood started to run cold.
And I thought, "Then what the heck, am I MISSING. Am I even a writer if that's the case?"
I guess, all I can do IS believe I am, and say to myself, "Pull your finger out Jethro, if that statement is true, you are late to party mate."
Seems we humans need a kick up the backside, every now and then, to jolt us awake.
Thanx (but it still hurtπ).
