As always, great advice in a concisely written manner. I'm going to be implementing some of your tips. I'm very new on there and navigating the system, so your guide here was a huge help.
Will do! I appreciate the quality work you're doing putting out some very good educational material on the business side of writing and growth techniques that also incorporates your own real-life experiences.
This guide has been a lifesaver for me and it will be for so many other people, too. Thank you for sharing your gold nuggets of knowledge! I definitely didnāt know that clapping more than once was a thing until a month or two after I started using Medium. šš«£
Love seeing your stories both on Medium and Substack! Keep up the amazing work!
Thanks so much! I have proceeded slowly, initially focusing on making connections to a small core group of writers, and being an active commenter. So more "fellowship" than marketing/profits to start.
An interesting offshoot is that several folks whose opinions I support all urged me to "continue" from what was originally a "one off" tale called "Franz Kafka Has Joined LinkedIn" so I have serialized it there.
The experience at the site has been a great synthesis. The piece (I am now working on "Part 5") is working for me organically as I keep adding to it. In addition, the natural excitement for "the next chapter" from a growing audience is wonderful market intelligence.
I am going to continue on, as I really do want to broaden out now. I have tended to share my fiction only in my region (at readings, etc.). This is also MUCH easier than the traditional route (agent/large publishers) which is.... brutal! Here is LINK to Part One, it you care to read. Hopefully by tonight, I am going to create a "library" on Medium and download each segment there. So far, each new part only links to its predecessor. https://medium.com/@ma_murphy_58/franz-kafka-has-joined-linkedin-short-story-f93767e544b2?sk=0381945a8748c99f9a725a35e9dea3fb
Nice! I love seeing more fiction being shared... in general. But, especially on Medium. I've seen a lot of writers self-publish books on Substack as well. That could be something to think about for the future. š”
Would love to know how the tale "hit" for you (both a a reader and a writer) I am happy to let you know when I add all the parts in order in a "Library" of their own.
Hey, this is the best way to start. This is my first month and I have already got some traction, Thanks for putting it out.
Yes! You've been killing it. š I'm excited to see your first-month results. š
Thanks to you journey has been good so far
